Blythedale Beach

Blythedale Beach lies on the subtropical Dolphin Coast of South Africa’s famed KwaZulu-Natal Province, also known as The Zulu Kingdom. Some 72km (45 miles) from Durban, Blythedale Beach is an unspoilt holiday haven set within the extensive Blythedale Conservancy. This encompasses not only pristine beaches but its own National Heritage Site on the Umvoti River which is a favourite birdwatching spot. Blythedale Beach itself is protected by shark nets and, in addition to swimming, is popular for surfing, jet-skiing, ski-boating, surf fishing, crayfish and mussels. Whale and dolphin-watching as well as outstanding golf courses nearby are also popular attractions. Whatever attracts you, Blythedale Beach offers accommodation for all tastes.

The moving memorial to King Shaka stands in the neighbouring town of kwaDukuza (aka Stanger). A leisurely drive from Blythedale Beach takes you to the famous Anglo-Zulu battlefields, Zululand game reserves and Lake St Lucia World Heritage Site.

The Australian Cattle Dog (ACD), also known as the Queensland Heeler, Blue Heeler, and Red Heeler, is a very agressive breed of herding dog developed in Australia for controlling cattle. It is a medium-sized dog with a lot of energy, intelligence and an independent streak. It is a wonderful guard dog, fearless and is used by Australian Police on Special Operations in the Queensland Bush.
